Nikolaos Theodorou (above) was born in 1923 in Piraeus. He used to say that his father, Evangelos, also a potter, was initiated into the art by working at his parents' workshop, wich had been operating in Sifnos for several generations. He worked in his father's shop until 1944, and in 1957 he set up his own workshop, wich produced mainly jugs and flower pots. He made also cups, plates, vases and candlesticks. His decorating subjects were inspired by Bizantine decorative motifs. Theodorou retired at 65, leaving his workshop in the hands of his son, Antonios.
